Mijn naam is Thijs Bod, oprichter van Studio Thijs Bod. Ik ben een bewuste allround ingenieur en aannemer gespecialiseerd in het ontwerpen en implementeren van oplossingen voor technische vraagstukken.

Over mij
Thijs Bod
Als ingenieur ontwerp en creëer ik graag oplossingen voor technische vraagstukken. Mijn voorkeur gaat uit naar projecten die bijdragen aan een betere wereld. Producten die het leven van mensen verbeteren, maar ook rekening houden met de volgende generatie en het milieu. Producten moeten meer doen dan alleen een functie vervullen. In plaats daarvan ben ik van mening dat een product je leven in alle opzichten moet verbeteren, inclusief het bieden van emotionele voldoening. Door de implementatie van passende materialen en vormgeving kan dit bijvoorbeeld gerealiseerd worden.
Naast dat ik ingenieur ben, heb ik ook een passie voor de natuur. Deze passie komt deels tot uiting in de vorm van bushcraft. Het ambacht van leven in de natuur op een primitieve manier met weinig gereedschappen.
Daarnaast deel ik een interesse in gemeenschapsleven, met name gericht op duurzaamheid en heb ik een sterke interesse in persoonlijke ontwikkeling, psychologie en natuurkunde. Met als doel een beter begrip krijgen van mezelf, van de mensheid en de werkingsprincipes van het universum.

Over Studio Thijs Bod
De start
Studio Thijs Bod is opgericht in 2020 vanuit het idee dat de wereld gebaad zou zijn bij een radicale andere manier van bedrijfsvoering.
Een bedrijfsvoering die niet gebaseerd is op winstmaximalisatie en individualisme, maar in plaats daarvan op welzijnsmaximalisatie en saamhorigheid. Een bedrijfsvoering waar zakelijk en privé samen vallen, waar gewerkt wordt om te leven i.p.v. geleefd om te werken.
In de praktijk betekend dit dat wij werken met een inkomstenafhankelijke bijdrage en dat de contacten met onze klanten warm en persoonlijk zijn i.p.v. koud en zakelijk. Wij hebben als doel eerlijk en integer te handelen, zonder tweede agenda, waarin we de belangen van alle betrokken partijen gelijkwaardig tegemoet willen komen inclusief het milieu.
Wij omarmen dan ook het gedachtengoed achter maatschappelijk verantwoord ondernemen (MVO) en gaan waar dat kan graag een stapje verder.

Working towards more more purpose and satisfaction
After two years
Almost 2 years later (spring of 2022), I can say that this company has brought me a lot. I’ve found out better who I am. I have more insight into my talents and passions. I have a better idea of my functioning and how I can apply that knowledge to get the best out of myself.
Although I have been able to positively influence many aspects, I also notice that there is a part that I have less influence on. Because although I can make optimal use of my talents more than ever before, this company remains inextricably linked to society. A society that is often characterized by a high workload and performance. A strongly individualistically oriented society, where cooperation and connection often lose out.
The coming period will therefore be partly dominated by the quest to realize more cooperation and connection. But also by slowing down, being less focused on work pressure and performance.

A new system

Three years after the establishment of this company, I am starting to realize that it is difficult to run a company based on values of collaboration, connection and slowing down, in a system that is in many aspects based on the opposite.
At that point you can do two things. Trying to change the system to make it fit your values or setting up your own system (parallel to the existing one) based on your values.
In terms of energy and feasibility, the second option is by far the best way to go. Therefore, our company will focus on becoming less dependent on the system to the point where we need it minimally.
In practice, this means building a life with others based on minimal fixed external costs. A self-sufficient community in nature fits well in that philosophy.
